ELLIE COLUMBINE

Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine & Integrative Health in Exeter

My approach combines the depth of Chinese medicine with a modern understanding of health, physiology, and the nervous system. Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, I consider the full picture—physical health, emotional wellbeing, lifestyle, and stress.

I support patients with anxiety, symptoms triggered by stress, body pain, women’s health issues, fatigue, digestive system complaints, complex health conditions and nervous system regulation through acupuncture, herbal medicine and holistic therapies.

Many people come to me when symptoms feel ongoing, unclear, or difficult to resolve and through personalised treatment they gain understanding and autonomy over their own health.

Whether you're dealing with physical pain, emotional stress, or long-standing health patterns, treatments are designed to address the root cause—not just manage symptoms.

The aim is not just short-term relief, but lasting change. For those who want it, this work can support deeper awareness and long-term personal development.

What I Help With

I support clients with:

What to Expect

Your first session includes time to explore your health history, symptoms, and underlying patterns.

From this, we create a clear and personalised treatment plan.

Many clients experience:

  • Reduced pain and tension

  • Better sleep and energy

  • Improved digestion and hormonal balance

  • A calmer, more regulated nervous system

  • Greater emotional resilience

How I Work

Sessions are calm, collaborative, and tailored to your needs.

I can use a single approach, or I can draw from a range of therapies to support your body more effectively, (you can specify which you would/would not like included in your treatment).

Treatments may include:

Treatments

  • Acupuncture needles on a stone

    Acupuncture

Using very fine needles at specific points on the body, acupuncture restores balance and relaxes the body so that it is able to heal.

Although there can be some sensation involved, acupuncture should be painless and patients often describe it as relaxing, invigorating, grounding and rebalancing. As well as treating physical symptoms such as pain, acupuncture can provide mental clarity and assist in emotional regulation.

Often acupuncture is used in combination with other body treatments (such as gua-sha, tuina or cupping) if suitable.

  • Chinese Herbs in a drawer

    Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbs are widely used in China instead of or as a compliment to allopathic medication.

They are sourced from a company that provides a Certificate of Analysis. This screens for active ingredients, pesticides, microbiology, and heavy metals, all to comply with stringent EU regulations

Herbs can be prescribed as a stand alone treatment or to support other methods and can be given in raw, granule or tablet forms.

Appointments can take place in the Exeter clinic or online.

  • Hands on body

    Reiki / Spiritual Healing

Reiki is a calming and non-invasive therapy suitable for all ages. It involves the practitioner placing their hands lightly on or just above the client’s body helping to release physical, emotional, and mental tension.

It is suitable for those seeking to calm their nervous system and find a gentle way to heal and is particularly popular for those who have experienced trauma or find other methods too invasive. It is also an effective practice for deepening spiritual awareness and nurturing your spirituality. I often use it alongside other treatments to enhance relaxation and healing.

  • woman EFT tapping cheek

    EFT

EFT is a ‘tapping’ therapy that combines elements of ancient Chinese medicine and modern psychology. It involves tapping on points on the hands, face, and upper body, while focusing on a particular issue or emotion to balance the body's energy system and reduce emotional distress.

EFT can complement acupuncture, herbal medicine, and reiki therapies, supporting a holistic approach to mental and emotional health.
